What Is Kratom:
Kratom is a tropical deciduous and evergreen tree that grows native to the rain forests of South East Asia and has now become more and more known for its opiate/coffee like effects on the human body, now while the FDA is pushing for a nation wide ban on this healing plant medicine, it is still legal to purchase in the United States. The kratom tree is actually very closely related to that of the coffee tree and at lower doses produces similar stimulating effects, much like a small cup of coffee or espresso, but without that crash. Nearly all strains of Kratom tend to consist of about 25 individual (highly complicated chemically structured) alkaloids, who each have a “stand alone” effect while not maintaining the addictive properties like many of today’s more popular pharmaceuticals.

While trees with a higher 7-hydroxymitragynine alkaloid profile will have more of a sedative/painkilling effect with more analgesic activity than morphine. Both variations have all the same effects but some are higher than others. For instance the Maeng Da Kratom leaf is known to be the King of all Kratom, especially for help with opiate withdrawal. When either are taken at larger doses, lets say 5-10g, kratom has more of a rather pleasant sedating effect which is accompanied by a relaxed euphoria and even painkilling effects. Many have also reported kratom to be very helpful in the treatment of depression, anxiety, opiate addiction, diabetes, chronic pain, and relief from fatigue.
The leaf of the kratom tree has even been used as a means of treating high blood pressure and insomnia. Now with all of these positive effects produced from kratom, it could easily be seen and understood by many as a kind of miracle plant. Miracle or not, kratom alone will not fix all or any of your problems, unless you have done your research, understand its capabilities and are ready to work with this healing plant. True the effects for me are surely felt and can be quit strong (depending on the dose), especially when dealing with stress and moderate physical pain, yet a small number of people claim them to be rather minimal and others extremely effective. I also find that when taking kratom with a glass of grapefruit or orange juice, the effects tend to increase.
In My Research I Found Various Strains of Kratom and Their Characteristics.
- Bali – This kratom is known for promoting relaxation and is a good choice when seeking analgesic (pain killing) properties. It is recognized by many as one of the more calming types of kratom. If you are choosing this type of kratom, makes sure to look for crushed leaves or powder with a darker color, since the older aged kratom trees are known to contain a stronger alkaloid profile.
- Maeng Da – One of the most potent strains of kratom, due to the rare serrated leaves, which contain a very high alkaloid profile. It also tends to be the most “euphoric”, uplifting and energizing than that of other strains, promoting more of a strong sustained energy while at higher doses providing a strong relaxed and sedative property.
- Thai Kratom – Kratom which is grown in Thailand or originated from Thailand and has been characterized by providing an energizing buzz, which is generally more stimulating in character compared to that of a Bali Kratom. The Red-Vein Thai buzz is quit strong and generally lasts about 5-7 hours causing euphoria as well as diminishing or completely taking away restlessness.
- Premium Indonesian (UEI/Indo) – This kratom is one of the most potent and less is needed for the usual sedation and “euphoric” effects to occur. Many people are astounded by the strength from their very first use. Usually most “Indo” labeled kratom is in fact a combination of the worlds best kratom strains mixed together.
- Kratom Extracts – Kratom extracts are basically the purest form of kratom, they extract the main alkaloids that cause its powerful effects. These extracts are extremely potent and you need not much to feel the effects. The effects are usually felt at lower doses of 1-2g.
Borneo – There are 3 types of Borneo kratom being sold in today’s marketplace.
- Red Vein– This type is very similar to Bali Kratom with its sedative and relaxing effect. Red Vein is also known for having stronger pain relieving properties.
- White Vein– Better known for working and doing any kind of manual labor, since it is more stimulating and also has a euphoric effect.
- Green Vein– Mostly stimulating while providing uplifting mood. Some have described green vein to be very similar to white vein although a bit more stimulating.
- Yellow Vein
A few places make a Borneo Blend of both red, white and green vein.
The Effects:
Kratom is a rather unique plant in that at low to moderate doses, usually (but not always) tends to be very stimulating and while at high doses, is almost always sedating. This is apparently because of the active alkaloids found in kratom, they can act both stimulating and sedative. Main predominates depend mostly both on blood level and individual differences between users.
Below is a dosage guideline that others have reported as well as what I have found to work for me:
1-3 grams = mild effects (typically the effects are stimulant-like)
4-7 grams = medium strength effects (the effects can be stimulant-like or sedative-euphoric-analgesic)
8-12 grams = strong effects (sedative-euphoric-analgesic effects; too strong for highly sensitive people)
13-16 grams = extremely strong effects (sedative-euphoric analgesic effects)
My Use Of Kratom:
Now that you know what kratom is and its capabilities, here is a little background of why I began using this natural herb in the first place (if not interested just skip down). I first learned of kratom and its medical properties about 8-10 months ago when I began searching for an alternative means to pain medication and also for help in the alleviation of anxiety/depression. After 2 years of consistently using pricey and hellishly addictive pain meds, (whom my doctor stated I would need for the rest of my life) I decided to try and slowly ween away from daily use then eventually cut them completely out of my life. Having read many horror stories about coming off these addictive drugs, I decided to taper down very slowly from 12mg of buprenorphine a day to about 2mg a day. Once I reached that goal there was nothing left but to completely remove this drug from my life. I also knew that I would have to replace it, at least temporarily, with something similar or counter active. This is when I found out about the medicinal value and coping agents for opiate withdrawal of the kratom tree. Learning as much as possible about kratom, I began to realize its power and how valuable this tree could potentially be for me.
Once I researched kratom extensively and read plenty of testimonials/reviews on the subject, I realized very quickly that kratom would be a large help in dealing with these type of issues. It seemed to be the alternative I had been looking for! I Immediately bought 2 ounces of the best quality kratom I could find from a well trusted U.S. company and within a couple days, I received the full delivery. I ordered the Yellow Cambodian Kratom , which are reported to be 25% stronger in alkaloids than the popular Maeng Da kratom strain and I also received the Bali Kratom.
What Kratom Did For Me:
After receiving my order, I immediately started substituting kratom capsules for the PX meds I was taking and began using kratom on a regular daily basis. I would take 2-3 capsules of the Vietnam strain upon waking up, then mix in 1 tbsp of the 15x standardized powder into a nice cup of tea before breakfast and calibrate from there on. Decent article but your dosages are extremely misleading. 95% of people don’t use over 15g per dose. I think it would be helpful to someone willing to try kratom for you to changes these dosages and make 15g the high end of the scale. If you need 50g to feel anything, that means that these vendors are selling you bunk product. Other than that, good article! Only trying to help.

So now both Arena Ethnobotanicals and Kratom.pro are NO LONGER allowed to sell kratom….because of our wounderfull FDA coming in and rading the California store front, they forced them to stop the distribution and selling of kratom. Well it looks like the FDA is putting some serious pressure on kratom, they have forced vendors like Arena EB, Kratom.pro and now even Bouncing Bear Botanicals to stop selling kratom…This is extremly dissapointing since these were some of my favorite site to buy kratom from. I used to through Kratom Pro or Arena Botanicals their Super Indo was very good! I go through Indonesian vendors for like $60 a kilogram and still good quality, but lately I have mainly gone through Kratom Underground. Botanical Bob and Arsy Kratom on fbb are good and cheap. Travis from Sollesolutions is good pretty cheap priced, mmmspecios, mood and mind, and greenkratomdragon are still around! Major Kratom is pretty good too.
Mu Synergetics and Save On Kratom has decent Golden Standard and pretty good UEI. It just want to gives these vendors props for quality product, good pricing, and good service as having tried all of them and liked them! You can’t go wrong with any of these vendors. They deserve a shout from Nick!

Is there ANY alternative to the “Enhanced” blends that Speciosa Specialists has? If you have not actually tried the SS enhanced blends please state that because honestly – they are every bit as strong and effective as any synthetic opiate. Unlike any other kratom these are effective 100% of the time.. There is NEVER a bad batch and back when I took Hydro and even Oxy – I found the enhanced blends far more effective without the negative sides. If I could find a less expensive alternative it would be a huge help..
